The Po Lin Monastery is a Buddhist monastery which is located in ngong ping on Lantau Island in Hong Kong. It was built by three monks, now it has become one of most renowned and popular tourist destination in Hong Kong.

Here you will find a big Buddha statue which is erected in 1993; the statue is 34meters high and facing north which mean to watch over the Chinese people, this statue of Buddha draws pilgrims from all over Asia. It has the right hand raised to deliver the blessing to all; it took 12years to complete the design of the statue. We must climb 268 steps for a closer look at this enormous looking statue, and can also enjoy the view of Sweeping Mountain.
Po Lin monastery consists of the great hall of treasures, the maitreya hall, and the hall of ti-tsang bodhisattva, the weituo hall, the banruo hall, the sutra-collection hall and other impressive structure which makes us feel calm and brings peace of mind. Here we can also find a big bronze bell weigh 1000 kilograms, which is engraved with the figures of Buddha and the Buddhist sutras. It is rung every seven minutes that is 108 times per day, it is said that the power of the bell can cure peoples 108 kinds of problems.

The second main attraction here is the pedestal which consists of three storied exhibition hall. It includes the gongde hall, the fajie hall, and the sakyamuni memorial hall.

Fajie Hall:
It has a display of wooden book which records about 160 bodhisattvas which was enchanted by Lord Buddha, it gathers together to discuss the sutras.

Gongde Hall:
We find the statue of Ti-tsang Bodhisattva, standing on the lotus pedestal holding a cane in his hand.

Sakyamuni Memorial Hall:
Here the remnant of sakyamuni is worshipped; it was brought from Sri Lanka.
